Read more Even at the first stages of the project development, the director of the remake of "Robocop" complained a lot about conservatism and the difficulty of working with the studio. There was talk of a remake back in 2005, and Darren Aronofsky, director of the films "Pi", "Requiem for a Dream" and "Fountain", was assigned as the first director, which greatly stirred up fans. The director was supposed to release the film in 2010, but various inconsistencies slowed down the project and Jose Padilla became the new director of the film in 2011. As the composer of the film, he invited Pedro Bromfman, with whom he previously worked on the dilogy "Elite Squad", which brought him a bear at the Berlin Film Festival. The movie itself has several references to the old movie. One of them is the exoskeleton of the original Police Robot that flashed on the screen. The second was the changed phrase of the advertiser, when instead of "I would buy it for a dollar!" hero Jackie Earle Haley said "I wouldn't pay a dollar for that." Toronto and Vancouver were the main filming location for the new "Robocop", the group visited Detroit and Hamilton several times. The role of the head of the Omnicorp corporation was originally taken by Hugh Laurie, who was later replaced by Clive Owen, and as a result, the role was awarded to Michael Keaton.
