The events of the film take place four years after our last encounter with the metallic natives of the planet Cybertron. And so, after a few years, people begin to heal their wounds, rebuilding the destroyed cities. Now, after the sad experience, humanity set a goal to prepare new weapons to be ready for other unexpected attacks. And it was for good reason, as the planet is under attack again, but already by a much more serious evil than the cunning Galvatron. At the stage of preparation for filming, the director planned to include in the main cast strongman Dwayne Skala Johnson, who refused in favor of the film "Heracles" (2014). Filming started in early June 2013. New IMAX cameras, which were smaller than their predecessors, were used for the first time as a working tool. Most of the footage of "Transformers: Time of Extinction" was shot in the USA, in particular in the states of Utah, Illinois, and Detroit. The latter was used as a backup location for the Hong Kong species. Some moments, following the plot, were filmed directly on the territory of China.
