ДОВЖЕНКО. Перший погляд

The picture transports the viewer to Odessa in 1926, at a time when Ukrainian cinema was just beginning to form its own voice. In the center of the story is a young Oleksandr Dovzhenko, who comes to Odessa to shoot his first film. He dreams of a cinema that will be art and not a tool of propaganda, but he is faced with a system that is not ready to allow the artist to speak freely in his own language.
