Laurence is a high school teacher and writer who is madly in love with his girlfriend, Fred. Their happy life is turned upside down when Laurance confesses that he is transsexual and intends to live as a woman. Fred promises to support his partner during his transition, but the couple's new lifestyle is at odds with the views of friends, family and society at large.
