Raylan Givens, who left remote Kentucky 15 years ago, now lives in Miami, combining the work of a marshal and the father of a 15-year-old girl. A chance encounter on a highway in Florida leads him to Detroit, where he crosses paths with Clement Mansell, aka the Oklahoma Wildcat, a violent sociopath who has already slipped through the fingers of Detroit's best detectives once and is determined to do it again.
