17-year-old Suzume lives in a quiet town on the island of Kyushu. Once she meets a young traveler who is looking for some kind of door. Together, they find an old door in the mountains amidst the ruins, and a mesmerized Suzume opens it. Soon, mysterious doors open all over Japan, letting various natural disasters into our world. Feeling guilty about the event, Suzume embarks on a journey through the unknown world to close all the passages.
