Roger Greenberg is at a crossroads. Having lost his job, he is in no hurry to find a new one. Instead, Greenberg returns from New York to Los Angeles to watch over the house of his more successful younger brother. That way he will at least have a free place to live. In his hometown, he finds no understanding either in old friends or in former colleagues. The inactivity of an adult upsets some, disappoints others. Only Florence, her brother's personal assistant, shares Greenberg's mental crisis. She is desperately looking for a reason to be happy. But is another annoying loser the least suitable for this?
