Gloucester, Massachusetts. A deaf family runs a fishing business. 17-year-old Ruby - the only one who can hear - helps her deaf parents and brother in fishing. At school, she joins the local choir, where she realizes that she likes to sing. The head of the choir convinces her to think about a music school, and now the girl is forced to choose between her family and her new dream.
