The film is based on the real life events of Mildred Gillards, who, after graduating from drama school in the state of Ohio, went in search of fame to Europe, started working on the radio "Radio Berlin" and under the pseudonym "Axis Sally" became the voice of German propaganda during the Second World War, and after she was arrested and sent back to the United States, she stood trial on charges of treason.
