Bol and Rial and their daughter are fleeing war-torn South Sudan. When a group of refugees cross the sea in a rickety boat, an accident occurs and the girl drowns. After some time in Great Britain, the couple receives the status of migrants and the opportunity to adapt - they are given housing without the possibility of moving. But the original joy is quickly replaced by anxiety, because at night in the new house, the couple notices an otherworldly entity.
