In the last years of Queen Victoria's reign, women with unusual abilities began to appear in London. Among them - Amalia True, a mysterious and very clever widow, and her friend Penance Edair, a brilliant young inventor. They are the leaders of this new lower class and create a community around themselves to fight supernatural (and not only) creatures.
