The lifelong dream of the teenage geek Katie Mitchell has finally come true: she entered film school and soon has to fly to another city to study. But her dad Rick has slightly different plans. He intends to take Katie to school himself, taking mom Linda, an indomitable optimist, eccentric Aaron, Katie's younger brother, and their beloved pug, Monchi, on a cross-country trip. A family trip unexpectedly turns into a real nightmare when all the gadgets, from phones to kitchen appliances, decide it's time for them. Now the Mitchell family, along with two broken but friendly robots, must forget their differences, stop the technology revolution and save the world.
