In January 2015, American rock climbers Tommy Caldwell and Kevin Jorgeson caught the world's attention when they attempted to scale Dawn Wall, a seemingly insurmountable 900-meter cliff in Yosemite National Park in California. These two literally lived in an upright position for weeks, attracting the attention of TV viewers from all over the world. However, for Tommy Caldwell, Dawn Wall was much more than just another climbing goal. For him, it was the culmination of a life dedicated to overcoming obstacles. When he was 22, the rock climbing prodigy was captured by rebels in Kyrgyzstan. Not long after, he lost his index finger in an accident, but that only made him stronger. When his marriage fell apart, he numbed the pain by devoting himself to the incredible goal of overcoming the Wall of Dawn. Caldwell and his partner Jorgeson dedicated six years of painstaking planning and training to overcome their goal, blurring the line between determination and obsession. In the moment of a decisive attempt, when the whole planet was looking at them, the moment of truth came for Caldwell: to leave a comrade to realize a cherished dream, or to risk success for the sake of friendship?
