Khatidze breeds bees in the Macedonian hinterland. They have a mutually beneficial relationship: the woman always takes only part of the honey, sings to her bees, works without protective clothing and refuses technical innovations. Together with their old mother, who is busy preparing for death, they live without electricity surrounded by mountains. Khatidze takes honey to the city to sell, and uses the money to buy small joys: hair dye, a fan for his sick mother. At some point, Hussain's family moves to the neighboring plot: seven children, chickens, cattle, a trailer instead of a house. Newcomers bring chaos to the quiet life of Khatidze and her bees, and when Hussein finds out what her neighbor does, he also decides to take up beekeeping, but his approach turns out to be much more rude...
