The main character is a neuroses-suffering forensic psychologist Malcolm Bright, who brilliantly understands the image of the thoughts of maniacs, because he happens to be the son of the famous serial killer The Surgeon. Malcolm helps the New York police solve crimes and is forced to periodically consult with the soul-stealing father, who seeks to reconcile with his son and convince him that they actually have quite a lot in common.
