In a tiny Italian village, time literally stood still. Local residents belong to the marquise, who mercilessly exploits their labor. Everything changes during one of the patrons' family visits to the village. The young aristocratic Tancredi makes friends with the simple-minded Lazarus. The fantastic collisions of their relationship will completely destroy the usual life of the villagers and lead to an almost biblical apocalypse of the small world.
