Rupert Turner endures bullying at his new school, and his mother just doesn't have a very warm relationship - not the best environment for a teenager. The only person he considers close is the nationally popular actor John F. Donovan. The boy decided to start sending letters to the celebrity to communicate. Usually popular people ignore this, but this was not the case. Between Rupert and John, a real friendship was established through correspondence. But the public, when they learned about it, did not take the correspondence between an adult actor and a schoolboy very well. So one sincere friendship can put an end to a career.
