Germany, 1944. 15-year-old Leina, the daughter of a German woman and an African-American man, lives in fear because of her skin color. One day she meets Lutz, the son of an influential SS officer and a member of the Hitler Youth. Despite the fact that they are different, a tender friendship is established between the heroes. Will Leina be able to find an ally and protector in the person of Lutz and avoid brutal massacre by the Nazis?
