Forty-year-old associate professor of literature François Foucault teaches at the prestigious Lycée Henri IV in Paris. However, certain life circumstances forced him to agree to teach for a year in a high school in the suburbs of Paris and transfer to a suburban college for a year, where children need special attention. He fears the worst, and for good reason.
