A young Mexican girl, Maya, illegally crossed the border between Mexico and the United States to join her sister Rosie, who lives in Los Angeles. But on this side of the border, the illegal immigrant was greeted by a far from sweet life. After working for some time as a waitress in a bar, with the help of her sister, she got a job as a cleaner in a large office building, which is considered more prestigious and well-paid in the emigrant environment. Maya soon meets union activist Sam, who calls to face the truth and make sure that the company is robbing them by paying them poor wages. Immigrants have a choice: to live as they lived, being satisfied with little, or to fight for their rights, for better working and living conditions, social guarantees... It seems that fear and lawlessness are the constant background of their future life. Can these unjust orders be changed?
