Tom, a widowed pediatric surgeon, lives in a picturesque English suburb, where he single-handedly raises two teenage daughters, Jenny and Carrie. His life seems stable and practically cloudless, until one day Jenny runs away to a party. The disappearance of his daughter and the following tragic events turn the main character's life upside down.
