In the center of the plot of the picture is the murder of the manager of the advertising company, whose body was found in the Polish river Oder in December 2000. One of the main suspects was a Polish intellectual whose sadomasochistic novel was published after the manager's death, and the events described in it were remarkably reminiscent of murder.
