London in 1946 was just recovering from the terrible consequences of World War II. For some time now, Juliet has been doing everything she can to find inspiration for her new book. Many topics seem completely inappropriate or simply boring to her, and she has absolutely no desire to write about the war itself. But help came from an unexpected place - a pig farmer from the island of Guernsey sent the girl a letter. His name is Dawsen, and he briefly told the story of the literary club during the days when the island was under occupation. Juliet decides to visit the place to find out more about the Book and Potato Peel Pie Club. It is these people and their stories that will inspire the writer for a new book. More Mike Newell, who previously worked on the projects "Donnie Brasco" (1997), "Mona Lisa's Smile" (2003), and "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" (2005), became the director of the film.
