Outside the window is the year 1809, the French are fully involved in the war. Every able-bodied man is drafted into the army. Such a fate did not pass by the handsome lovelorn Neville, who was about to get married. He leaves his fiancée Pauline, promising to send her letters every day. But the windy man did not write a word to the girl during his entire service. Realizing that such behavior of the scoundrel will break her sister's heart, Elizabeth sends a message about Neville's exploits instead. Oh, how many heroic deeds he did and died the death of the brave. But here's the problem - unfortunately, the man survived. Moreover, he has deserted the army and now wants to return to Pauline again, despite Elizabeth's pleas. Sooner or later he will be revealed, but for now he is ready to move on the image of a hero created by his loving sister.
