In the center of the plot is a fictional secret agent. A person named George Kaplan does not exist, but a luxurious room in New York's Plaza Hotel was taken in his name. Enemy counterintelligence takes advertising agent Roger O. Thornhill (Cary Grant) as a spy, who becomes its target. A beautiful girl (Eva Mary Saint) is involved in the spy intrigue.
