From "hip" Copenhagen, Hanna and her husband Oli go to Kathmandu, where they become the only Western disciples of the 16th Karmapa - the first consciously reincarnated lama of Tibet. Inspired by new knowledge, they strive to share it with the whole world. From Europe to North America, through the collapse of the communist regime in Eastern Europe and Russia, the kidnapping of Hanna and Ole by guerrillas in South America, the plot of the film follows the great woman through the turbulent, ever-changing world.
