Only the Great Kingdom of Wessex, led by King Alfred, remains unconquered and alone in its struggle. Against the background of these stormy events, the life of our hero, Uhtred, takes place. He, the son of a Saxon nobleman, is captured by the Danes, and they raise him as their own. Forced to choose between the land where he was born and the people who raised him, Uhtred tries to find his "self". who is he Saxon or Dane? Seeking to regain his lost rights, Uhtred must overcome a dangerous path on the border between the two sides of the conflict, if he wants to contribute to the birth of a new state and, in the end, to reclaim the lands that belong to him from time immemorial.
