Danton

1982 16+ France, Poland
139 min. Andzhei Vaida

Terror is raging in revolutionary France. At a meeting of the Committee of Public Salvation, Biillot-Varenne accuses Danton and his friends of counter-revolutionary activity. Robespierre does not agree to the trial of Danton, but the niche members of the Committee add new arguments against him. The roles in the film were distributed in such a way that Robespierre and his supporters are played by Poles, and the "Dantonists" are played by the French. The film was supposed to be shot in Poland, but due to the tense political situation and lack of funding, its shooting was moved to Seine and Marne, Versailles and Sanlis.
