"In the Rays of Glory" chronicles the 1988 season through the life of a company of daredevils - the Permian High Panthers - the most successful football team in Texas history. Young members of the team perceive each game as a chance to escape from their small town, as a fleeting dream of stardom, the peaks of which they can reach before their 18th birthday.
