The hero of the film was born on April 11, 1961, on the eve of one of the most optimistic events in Soviet history - Yuri Gagarin's flight into space. Year after year, the director captures not just the life of one person, but the life of an entire state until 1986 - the moment when the empire began to disintegrate and optimism reappeared in the foreboding of a new society.
