"What do you do when you make such a movie, you ask yourself, 'What is there in mysticism that makes people watch it again and again?'" says director Markus Nispel. - "You need to make sure that you gave people what they wanted, but not exactly what they expected. That's what makes a quality movie." "Jason Voor, Darth Vader, Freddy Krueger... there are a number of villains who always remain interesting," Jared Padalecki asserts. "It's interesting what they do next, what crime is next. Even if you haven't seen the movie, you must have heard about it - 'Friday the 13th.' It's about Jason." After the success of "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" in 2003, the producers of the company Platinum Dunes - Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller - teamed up again with the director Nyspel to make a new film "Friday the 13th". Fuller says: "We are first and foremost fans of horror films and only then producers, and we all grew up on our favorite films "Friday the 13th". They are all simply fantastic and funny in their own way. They themselves have created something like a subgenre of horror, which has its own audience". Foreword... On Friday, June 13, 1958, at Camp Crystal Lake, two teenagers sneaked out of the evening campfire gathering to take a walk in the night forest. There they were found and killed by an invisible force. Twenty years later, the renovated camp is preparing to open. One of the townspeople warns that the "bloody camp" as he calls it the abode of deadly evil, but the director of the camp and his young wards do not listen to him, and as a result, they are brutally murdered by Pamela Voor, a woman whose young son Jason drowned in the lake in 1957. Only one eyewitness survived, who told the story of their 24-hour nightmare, which shocked viewers of the film "Friday the 13th" in 1980. The brutality of the thriller broke through the stereotypes of horror films and collected an incredible box office. It was followed by new films for television, novels, video games, etc. And the mask of the main villain became a trademark and symbol of one of the hockey teams. As soon as the script was ready, the creators of the film focused on the selection of actors who would play The first character to be cast was Clay Miller, a young man who disappeared after a week in a forest camp. Jared Padalecki was cast in this role. Clay wants to understand for himself what really happened," says Padalecki. "He knocks on the door of a house on the lake and finds himself in the company of young people who are spending the weekend there." "We already admired Jared in the movie 'Supernatural,'" says Andrew Form. - "He is very talented and hardworking, besides, he is an impressive guy, so we knew that he would make our thief go after his money." "I watched the original "Friday the 13th" when I was still in school and I remember that this movie scared me to death," laughs Padalecki. - "When I found out that the filming of a new film was going on and that I was invited to take part in it, I was incredibly excited." During his adventures, Clay meets Jenna, who is spending the weekend with her friends. Daniel Panabaker was approved for this role. She says: "Jenna is kind of vaguely dating Trent, whose parents happen to be the owners of the lake house where the whole company is going for the weekend. Their relationship with Trent is still very unclear and Jenna is not sure if she wants anything serious at all. She is just there to have fun and relax with friends in a beautiful lake house." Nispel says, "Jenna's character is complicated. We needed an actress who would be inspired by the role, even if we had to play a girl who comes on vacation with one guy and leaves with another." The role of Jenna's potential boyfriend, Trent, was played by Travis Van Winkle, who was first seen by the producers in a small role in Michael Bay's blockbuster Transformers. Director Nispel says: "Trent is a jerk. He's arrogant and arrogant, but at the same time he can be cute, if you can call it that." "Trent is used to achieving success and he believes that if he brings a group of friends to his parents' house, he will get the girl's reciprocity. Unfortunately, everything did not turn out the way he planned." Van Winkle could not miss the chance to dream in "Friday the 13th". "Are you laughing? Yes, I was just delighted!" - exclaims the actor. - "That's Jason! Hockey mask! I wanted to participate in a cool murder scene." Amanda Rigetta from the TV show “The Mentalist” has been cast as Clay's missing sister, Whitna. Righetti says: "I was still too young when the first Jason movie came out, so I don't remember it that well. When I came to the audition, they didn't let me read the script, so it was really a sign of fate. Then when I read the script, I realized that this is not an ordinary horror movie, it intrigues and hypnotizes. You never know who will live and who will die." While the filmmakers were selecting the actors whose characters would be in the hands of the psycho killer, it was necessary to determine who would be swinging a sword and wearing a terrifying mask, who would become the new Jason. The choice fell on Derek Mears. "When we were discussing the role of Jason, we knew that we would need an actor with impressive forms," says Nispel. - "We have already confirmed Jared Padalecki, who is not small in stature, to put it mildly, so we needed someone who could easily handle the stunts." "When Derek entered the hall and we saw how he was built, how he moved, we already knew that this was Jason," Form recalls. - "He had the exact physique we were looking for, and it was just a blessing from God that he was also a stuntman." "I grew up playing Dungeons & Dragons, collecting comics, and I've always loved horror and fantasy," says Derek Mears. "'Friday the 13th' is one of my favorite films. It's a great honor for me to play Jason, and I feel an incredible responsibility to the fans of the film." "Derek really improved the character, he put a lot of work and thought into the role," says Nispel. - "He brought tension and flexibility to the character of his character, which we have not seen before. I am sure that the audience will see him under the mask." Art kills... In order not to contradict the reputation of the first film, it was necessary to make all the murders memorable. "Even before the work began, we knew that death is one of the main aspects of this film," says Andrew Form. - "The only thing we didn't fully realize was the terrifying number of deaths in the film. Each death should be felt in a new way, leave a different feeling. You can't just walk around and kill with a sword - it's already boring. But Damian Shannon and Mark Swift came up with some such deadly twists that the audience will remember for a very long time." "The journey we're taking the audience on is very much like a rollercoaster in terms of emotions. And if everything works out the way we hope, the film will be so exciting and terrifying that the audience won't notice how they find themselves on the edge of their seats," says Brad Fuller. "I want to assure all connoisseurs of "Friday the 13th" that in the film you will see all the characteristic elements of the genre that you have already fallen in love with," says Form. - “The new film will also have a lot of humor along with intense violence, unique murders and great fear. Everything is there!” Markus Nispel teases: "The sleeping bag is an impression of the murders of 'Friday the 13th'." It scares. It penetrates under the skin. It makes you laugh... but I think it's more of a panicked laugh." # # #
