1947 year. Two Ukrainians - Danylo Chrevyn and Viktor Gurov - ended up in a Gulag camp. They have completely different destinies: one used to be a member of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA) and was born in the West of Ukraine, and the other is a Soviet pilot from the East of Ukraine, who is not very familiar with the concept of patriotism. But fate brought such people together. They may have different ideals, but they are united not only by a common misfortune, but also by the country where they were born - the Motherland. When the men realize this, they decide that in order to survive in prison, they need to help each other and face all the difficulties together. The harsh head of the camp, Major Abramov, wants to destroy all the "Banderivites" and will stop at nothing. Then Danylo the Red leads a rebellion in the Gulag, which turns into a real rebellion. Convicts have almost no chance of success, but they have an irresistible desire to change their lives and stop going through all the circles of hell every day.
