German actress Paula Beer ("Ludwig of Bavaria" (2012), "Dark Valley" (2014)) and French actor Pierre Ninet ("LOL" (2008), "Romantics Anonymous" (2010), "Yves Saint Laurent" (2014)) played the main roles in this film. The film was directed by François Ozon. Previously, he worked on such projects as "8 Women" (2001), "Pool" (2002) and "In the House" (2012). The premiere of the film took place on September 3, 2016, simultaneously at the Venice Film Festival in Italy and the Telluride International Film Festival in the USA. In Venice, the painting won the Marcello Mastroianni Prize.
