La Notte

The action of this film takes place in just one night. Shortly after visiting the sick Tommaso, the writer Giovanni and his wife Lidia throw a party for the release of his new book. One of the guests, the industrialist Gherardini, offers Giovanni to become his employee, but Giovanni is thinking more about Valentina, Gherardini's daughter. While he tries to court her, a young man begins to follow Lidia. The fun dies down when the guests learn of Tommaso's death. Lidia remembers how he loved her once, a quarrel with Giovanni takes place.
