A beautiful young widow, Lady Susan Vernon, arrives at the estate of her late husband's family to face colorful rumors about her antics floating among the upper echelons of society. There she is going to figure out how to improve her financial situation. Without wasting time, the woman decides to find a rich husband for herself and her young daughter, who is not too keen on getting married. To achieve their goal, not only beauty and charm will be used, but also a sharp mocking mind and an incredible talent for plotting. The picture was shot in the shortest possible time - less than a month (26 days). It is based on Jane Austen's novel "Lady Susan". The main role in the film was to be played by Sienna Miller, but she was replaced by Kate Beckinsale. For actresses Kate Beckinsale and Chloe Sevigny, this is the second joint work. The first was the picture "The Last Days of Disco" in 1998. It was also directed by Whit Stillman, winner of the Oscar for Best Screenplay in 1991. The film has already been released in American (January 23, 2016) and even Russian (August 18, 2016). 99% of film critics rated it positively.
