On November 6, 1983, 12-year-old Will Byers mysteriously disappears in the state of Indiana. The missing boy's mother, Joyce, is at a loss as she tries to find her son. For help, she turns to Police Chief Hopper, who begins an investigation into the disappearance. Will's friends also go in search of the missing person, but they meet a girl with unusual abilities in the forest who knows something about their missing friend.
