Yojimbo

A samurai comes to a Japanese town. The samurai looks completely un-samurai: badly cut, not combed. And in the city, two organized criminal groups, created by the oligarchs of the town from persons who are under investigation and wanted, terrorize the inhabitants of the town, suffer brutally from the arbitrariness of the bandits. Showing unusual operational acumen and skillfully working with a sword, alternately being hired as a bodyguard in one gang, then in another, the samurai skilfully reduces the number of bastards, solving his own tasks along the way.
