According to Marina herself, "Cross Country" is the author's recollections of physical education lessons, and at the same time a reason to think: where is Ukraine running? Also, the tape should be taken metaphorically. "This is a modern film. Children run cross country. I also ran it at school, then at the institute, and now I'm telling you how we ran it and how everyone will still run it. Such a poetic thing. It is difficult to translate. That is, there are some internal movements, there are external ones. And I really liked this joint. It was very interesting when you can, using concrete images, create an abstract one"[1], says Marina Vroda. This tape is a joint project of Ukraine and France. Filming took place in September 2010 and lasted about a week. Only non-professional actors were involved, which allowed them to invest 3.5 thousand euros. The physical education teacher was played by a real school teacher, and the director's friend from childhood was an assistant for the selection of actors and she also prepared food for the children. Half of the amount for the production of the tape was provided by the director from his own pocket. "You don't need a lot of money for a short film, I think so, if you're not shooting a parody of a blockbuster, "Avatar" or "Star Wars". That is, in my specific situation, it was very important that the team got together and did it. Everything was very simple in terms of financing. We came up with a few thousand each. It was no more than 3.5 thousand euros for the entire film" [2] — said Marina Vroda.
