The film is based on the bestseller by James Ballard, author of Steven Spielberg's Empire of the Sun and David Cronenberg's Car Crash. London, 1975. Young doctor Robert Lang moves to a new high-rise building. He was interested in the lifestyle of a closed community living in luxurious conditions. The creator, architect Anthony Royal, is also among the residents of the high-rise. The doctor lives on the 25th floor. Robert Lang discovers the complex world of community relations and begins a relationship with the architect's assistant, Charlotte. Everyone in the house is consumed by a strange rivalry. And Lang soon gets involved in the game too. But trying to find his position in society, the doctor loses his mental health. Read more Jeremy Thomas, one of the producers of the film "High-rise", wanted to screen D. Ballard's work back in the 1970s. In the 2000s, the Briton began developing a project with screenwriter Richard Stanley and director Vincenzo Natali. It was supposed to be a loose adaptation of the novel. In 2013, Ben Wheatley was looking for a person who had the rights to the novel, which led him to Jeremy Thomas. Thus, Whitley became the director of "Vysotka". He said in an interview that the book is still relevant. It is about the near future in which we live. Amy Jump, Ben Whitley's wife, who has previously collaborated with her husband, acted as the screenwriter. Tom Hiddleston, who played Robert Lang, had already worked with Jeremy Thomas in Jim Jarmusch's film "Only Lovers Will Survive." The actor said in an interview that it was an honor for him to work again with Thomas in such a bold project. Hiddleston consulted with a medical examiner to prepare for the role. Jeremy Irons, Sienna Miller, Luke Evans, Elisabeth Moss and others also starred in the movie "High-rise". The composer of the picture was Clint Mansell. Among the works of the famous British "Aces of Trump" Joe Carnahan, "Moon 2112" with Sam Rockwell, "Dirt" by John Baird, and most of Darren Aronofsky's films. Filming began in July 2014 in Belfast, as well as in the seaside resort town of Bangor.
