Pete's Dragon
Pete's Dragon
An adventure film for the whole family, a remake of the 1977 Oscar-nominated "Pete the Dragon" from the director of "No Saints" and "On the Run" David Lowery. Ranger Grace Meacham (Bryce Dallas Howard) finds a boy named Pete (Oakes Fegley) in the woods. It seems that the child grew up without family and shelter for six years in wild conditions. But how could he survive alone? Grace learns that Pete was not alone, because he has a faithful friend - the dragon Elliott. While the ranger, together with the sawmill owner's daughter, tries to uncover the boy's secret, the hunter Gavin (Karl Urban) plans to capture the fantastic animal at any cost. They were later joined by composer Daniel Hart. This team has already worked together on the melodrama "On the Run" with Casey Affleck and Rooney Mara. And although the original story was performed in the musical genre, the new picture will be just a family film. Bryce Dallas Howard, who played the role of Grace Meacham, said in an interview that the events of the old tape take place at the beginning of the 20th century, and the new one - in the 80s. In addition to Bryce Dallas Howard ("Jurassic World"), Oakes Fegley ("Live As You Know It"), Karl Urban ("The Loft"), Robert Redford ("The First Avenger. War II"), Wes Bentley ("Interstellar"), Una Lawrence ("Shulga") and others play in the movie "Pete's Dragon". Initially, the role of the hunter was to be played by Michael S. Hall ("Dexter"), but in the end it went to Karl Urban. Director David Lowery said in an interview that when creating Elliott, he was inspired by his cat, because in his opinion, a dragon is like a huge pet. He insisted that the animal in the film should be fluffy in order to evoke sympathy in the viewer and the desire to hug him. Filming of "Pete's Dragon" lasted from January to April 2015 in New Zealand.
