In 2001, The Boston Globe hired a new person as editor - Marty Baron. He meets Walter Robinson, a man who heads a small group of journalists whose articles are investigative in nature. Sometimes the time allotted for publication can take a whole year. Marty Baron comes across a small article in the newspaper, which reports that the archbishop of Boston did nothing when he learned about the pedophilia of one of the priests. The editor asks a group of Spotlight journalists to take up the case. Believed to be dealing with an isolated case, professionals reveal a horrifying picture of the cover-up of child sexual abuse in the Boston Diocese. Read more The drama "In the spotlight" is based on real events. The Spotlight reporting group is one of The Boston Globe's oldest divisions. When they discovered an organized structure of pedophiles in the Boston Catholic Church, they decided to go all the way in their investigation to tell the public about it. Without evidence or records, Spotlight contacted possible victims of abuse by priests. The case, which lasted about a year, won the Pulitzer Prize in 2003. The script of the film was in the famous Black List since 2013. It includes the best scripts that have not yet found producers. "In the spotlight" was directed by Tom McCarthy. There are not many works on his account: the drama "The Station Attendant" with Peter Dinklage, "The Visitor", the sports drama "Win!" with Paul Giamatti and the fantastic film "The Shoemaker" with Adam Sandler. Tom McCarthy said that while working on the biographical drama, he focused on such classics of the genre as "The Network" and "The Verdict" by Sidney Lumet, "Frost vs. Nixon" by Ron Howard, "The Entire Presidential War" with Dustin Hoffman and Robert Redford, "Citizen Kane" by Orson Welles, "Good Night and Good Luck" by George Clooney.
