Read more The history of the creation of the film "The Legend of Tarzan" dates back to 2003, when screenwriter and director John August was given the task of writing a script for a big-budget film. But after a couple of years, the studio Warner Bros. announced the development of Edgar Rice Burroughs' Tarzan with producer Jerry Weintraub, director Guillermo del Toro and screenwriter John Colley. Later, Stephen Sommers, who left the project in 2010, was appointed as director. After a short break, two men took the place of the screenwriter: Adam Cozad and Craig Brewer. In 2012, it became known that the film will be directed by David Yates ("Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix", "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince"). Unfortunately, for financial reasons, the shooting of "The Legend of Tarzan" was postponed for several years. Various candidates were considered for the role of Tarzan: swimmer Michael Phelps, Tom Hardy ("Mad Max: Fury Road"), Henry Cavill ("Man of Steel") and Charlie Hunnam ("Crimson Peak"). David Yates decided on Alexandra Skarsgård ("Melancholia", "Divorce in the big city", "Model Male 2"). The director saw Jessica Chastain as the main character's wife, and the studio - Margot Robbie or Emma Stone. Emma Watson was also considered. In the end, Margot Robbie confirmed her participation in the film "The Legend of Tarzan". Later, Christoph Waltz, Samuel Jackson, Ella Purnell, John Hurt, Djimon Hounsou and Jim Broadbent joined the cast. Filming of the film began in June 2014 at the Warner Bros. studio. in Great Britain, and lasted until October.
