XI century, Scotland. Wars rage, in which Lord Macbeth always participates. He receives a prophecy from three witches that changes his whole life: "You will become the king of Scotland." But at the moment, one already exists, this is Duncan, whom Macbeth himself supports in the civil war. The lord's ambitious wife, mesmerized by a beautiful prophecy, tries to turn it into reality. She supports him in every possible way and encourages him to act. In the end, Macbeth commits treason and takes King Duncan's life with his own hands. The throne gets a new ruler. He has a few works to his credit: the short film "Blue Tongue", the crime drama "Snowy City", which received the Prize of the International Association of Film Critics (Cannes Film Festival), and the adaptation of Tim Winton's novel of the same name "10 Moments of Fate", consisting of various short films. The role of Macbeth went to the popular actor Michael Fassbender. His filmography includes such films as "X-Men: First Class" by Matthew Vaughn, "X-Men: Days of Future Past" by Bryan Singer, "12 Years a Slave" with Brad Pitt and Benedict Cumberbatch, "300 Spartans" and others. Lady Macbeth was played by the Frenchwoman Marion Cotillard, although Natalie Portman was originally planned. One of the producers, Ain Canning, previously worked on photographer Anton Corbain's debut film Control, about the band Joy Division and lead singer/songwriter Ian Curtis, as well as the Oscar-winning The King Speaks with Colin Firth, Geoffrey Rush and Helena Bonham Carter. Filming of "Macbeth" started in February 2014 in Scotland and lasted more than seven weeks. After the screening of the film at the Cannes Film Festival, the audience gave a standing ovation for ten minutes.
