It was the work of Juan Jose Campanella, who participated in the productions of some famous series: "Law and Order", "Doctor House", "Stop and Mountains" and others. He acted as one of the producers of the remake. The character of Julia Roberts was intended for a male actor, but the director rewrote the script of "Secret in Their Eyes" especially for her. During filming, Roberts' mother died, but the actress returned to the set 5 days later. The film was developed by Warner Bros. Pictures back in 2010. Denzel Washington, Gwyneth Paltrow and Julia Roberts were invited to play in the project. Filming was supposed to start in October, in Atlanta. But Warner Bros.
