Read more The screenplay "Joy" by Annie Mumolo is based on the life and success story of a real person - Joy Mangano. The Italian-American inventor and entrepreneur became famous for the Miracle Mop and Huggable Hangers. She is the president of Ingenious Designs and appears very often on the American sales channel HSN. Joy Mangano registered about a hundred patents for her inventions. When director David O. Russell joined the project ("Three Kings" with George Clooney, "The Fighter" with Christian Bale, "My Boyfriend is Psycho", "American Fraud", etc.), he changed the script. Added more secondary characters and interwoven Mangano's story with other stories about strong women changing their destiny. Although the main story line is still based on the real Joy, the picture is not a biopic. The cast of "Joy" includes excellent performers. The inventor was played by Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence, her father - Robert De Niro. Bradley Cooper, Edgar Ramirez, Isabella Rossellini are also involved in the film. Filming took place in Boston and Haverhill, Massachusetts.
