Nelly Lenz is a Holocaust victim who managed to survive in a concentration camp. She is injured, her face is badly mutilated. An employee of the Jewish Agency, Lene Winter, helps Nelly get to Berlin, where she underwent plastic surgery. After recovering from the operation, Nelly begins to look for her husband, Johannes. When she finally found him, Johannes did not recognize his wife, whom he believed to be dead. Nevertheless, he admits that this woman, unknown to him, looks like his "deceased" wife.
