Two friends are resting in an alpine hotel in Switzerland. One is Fred Bollinger, a retired composer and conductor who came with his daughter. The other is Mick, an elderly director still clinging to his career. They talk a lot and think about the past. While Fred is offered to perform at a celebration for a member of the British royal family, Mick tries to finish the script, which he believes will be the most important creation of his career.
