The second part is not a complete adaptation of the book by James Dashner. Director Wes Ball and screenwriter TS Nowlin kept the essence, but made some necessary changes for the purposes of the film. Kaya Scodelario, who played Teresa, said that for her, shooting in the desert was really difficult and took a lot of strength. The actors had to undergo training to cope with their roles on the set. One of the characters, Brenda, could be played by Emma Roberts, Adelaide Kane and Hailee Steinfield. But in the end, she went to Rosa Salazar, famous for the series "American Horror Story", in which Roberts also played. Three actors from "The Maze Runner: Trial by Fire", Thomas Brody Sangster, Aiden Gillen and Natalie Emmanuel, participated in the filming of "Game of Thrones". In March 2015, TS Naulin confirmed that there will be a third part of "Labyrinth", which will be closer to the source than the second. Filming will begin in February 2016, and the film itself should be released in 2017.
