Russell Crowe's feature directorial debut. The events of the drama take place in 1919, after the epic confrontation at Gallipoli. Crowe plays the role of a farmer who goes to Turkey in search of his sons. In the country, the enemy looks like a friend, and the military bureaucracy is flourishing, but Russell Crowe's hero finds the strength not to give up. On the spot, he finds the graves of his children, but he is told that one of them is alive. Not quite believing in success, but hoping for the best, the grief-stricken father still finds hope for happiness. Read more Having previously tried the director's chair, Russell Crowe decided to shoot a full-length film himself only in the case of the script for "The Water Finder". The very events described in the film can be called historically true to some extent, if we take the shell of events that surrounded the hero Russell Crowe. And the very idea for the plot was taken from the book of the same name by Andrew Anastasios and Dr. Megan Wilson-Anastasios. Andrew Anastasios himself worked directly on the script. It became known in mid-June 2013 that the Australian actor would direct the film. In October of the same year, Olga Kurylenko signed a contract to participate in the film. Filming began immediately on December 2, 2013, in Australia. While working on some of the on-set scenes for The Water Finder, the ambient temperature at times reached 49 degrees Celsius. It is interesting that the horse on which you can see Crow's hero in some scenes is his own. And his name is Honey (from English "Honey"). Additionally, during the closing credits, a salute addressed to the South Sydney Rabbitohs can be seen. This is a rugby team, one of the owners of which is Crowe himself.
