Dwayne Scala Johnson plays Ray, who works as a pilot in the Los Angeles Fire Department and has been divorced for some time. Casting began in the fall of 2013 when Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson agreed to play the role of a rescue helicopter pilot. Casting continued until the summer of the following year. Filming took place in two stages. Initially, the team worked in the USA, which happened in June-July 2013. Later, work on the "San Andreas Fault" was transferred to Australia. At the same time, the creators had to wait until the historical epic "Gods of Egypt" was filmed in the locations they needed. It is interesting that the official poster of the film repeats the poster of the film "Vertical Limit" released in 2000. There, an avalanche acted as a natural aggressor.
